TrueWave Pro AIR-B2 wireless microphones for weddings

Wireless Microphones for Weddings, Functions and Mobile DJs

At a wedding there's no second take. The vows, the father-of-the-bride speech and the MC's announcements all need to be heard — often outdoors, sometimes across a noisy reception. Here's how celebrants, DJs and venues set up wireless microphones that don't let them down.

Who needs what

You are… Recommended Why
Celebrant AIR-B2 + AIR-BX-B1 bodypack Discreet lapel for you, handheld for readers and the couple; receiver runs from USB-C at outdoor sites
Mobile DJ / MC AIR-B2 MC mic plus a speeches mic, both into your controller or mixer
DJ doing ceremony + reception AIR-B4 + bodypack Enough channels for celebrant, vows, speeches and MC; rack receiver lives in your DJ case
Function venue AIR-B4 + charging dock Four mics ready for every booking, charged in a fixed spot

The ceremony

  • A lapel on the celebrant looks clean in photos; the couple's vows can go through a handheld held by the celebrant, or a second lapel.
  • Outdoors, the AIR-B2 receiver runs from a power bank over USB-C — no extension cords across the lawn.
  • Keep the receiver in sight of the arch; up to 100 m line of sight is plenty, but guests' bodies block signal.

Speeches

  • Hand the mic over with a 5-second briefing: “hold it here, point it at your chin, don't walk in front of the speakers.”
  • Keep the speeches mic on its own mixer channel so you can lift a quiet grandparent or tame a loud best man.
  • Mute the mic between speeches to avoid bumps and clunks.

Reception and dance floor

DJs: use the receiver's individual XLR outputs into your mixer or controller's mic inputs, or the 6.35 mm mixed output if you only have one. With latency under 2.9 ms, MC talk-overs stay tight with the music.

The pre-gig checklist

  1. All mics charged the night before (about 10 hours per charge).
  2. Spare charged 18650 cell in your kit.
  3. Choose clear frequencies at the venue — hotels and function centres often have other wireless systems running next door.
  4. IR sync each mic and label them: celebrant, speeches, MC.
  5. Walk-test from the arch, the head table and the dance floor.

Why rechargeable matters here

A dying AA during the vows is every celebrant's nightmare. Rechargeable mics that come off the charger full remove that risk — read rechargeable vs AA.
