Buying Wireless Microphones for Schools: Quotes, Purchase Orders and What to Choose

Schools use microphones in more places than almost anyone: assemblies, presentation nights, drama, music, PE, sports carnivals and parent evenings. And the gear is used by dozens of different staff and students. This guide covers what to buy — and how the purchasing side works.

What schools need from a wireless system

  • Anyone can set it up — IR sync pairs a mic by pointing it at the receiver.
  • Rechargeable — no battery budget, no flat mics at assembly.
  • Portable — the same kit moves between hall, gym and oval.
  • Compliant — RCM certified and operating in the Australian wireless microphone band.
  • Local warranty and spares — a lost handheld is replaced, not the whole system.

Recommended setups

Space Recommended Why
Assembly hall (principal + student MC) AIR-B2 Two handhelds, compact receiver
Performing arts / presentation nights AIR-B4 + AIR-BX-B1 bodypacks Four channels, rack receiver, hands-free options
Sports carnival / oval AIR-B2 Receiver runs from USB-C — a power bank works where there's no outlet
PE / dance teacher AIR-BX-B1 with headset Hands free while demonstrating
Hall sound desk TM-12X mixer Mix mics with music via Bluetooth or USB

How school purchasing works with MSM AV

  1. Request a quote. Contact us or call 03 9436 9000 with the items you need. We'll send a formal quote or proforma invoice.
  2. Get it approved through your normal process.
  3. Send your purchase order. Include the school's name exactly as it should appear on the invoice, ABN, billing and delivery addresses and your PO number.
  4. Pay by bank transfer against the invoice.
  5. Delivery. In-stock items dispatch from Melbourne once payment clears. Orders of $100 or more ship free within Australia.

Tip: get the school's legal name right on the first request. Invoice names are hard to change once an order is created.

Looking after school mics

  • Give the kit one home, with the mics on a charger — an AIR-BX charging dock works well.
  • Label mics and receivers with the room or department.
  • Over long holidays, store mics at about half charge.
  • Keep a spare handheld for the inevitable dropped mic.
